Managing Director at Handy for Work

April 2012

Handy for Work is a new free to use business website with a free APP designed to help you work smarter on the move. As a regular traveller the rapid development of the internet and mobile equipment means you can work almost anywhere. Well, nearly. It has become a fundamental law of 'agile' working that wherever you need to be for business is the one place on the planet you cannot easily track down an internet connection or any necessary facilities and services. And they could be just around the corner from you. Handy for Work aims to build a worldwide database of helpful locations and businesses so that wherever you need to go for work (or on holiday for that matter) you are not far from a helpful resource. There are some 50,000 locations already active and we are adding more every week. You can contribute too by submitting and rating your own favourite locations or posting your business in the directory. We are just setting out, so do bookmark Handy for Work and check back. You can follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Google and LinkedIn. Why not download the APP. If you have any questions or comments then feel free to let us know. And if nothing else I hope you find this website Handy for Work

Managing Director at The Rural and Urban Planning Consultancy

June 2009

My expertise has taken me all over Britain, often dealing with sensitive planning issues in both town and country. Clients have included a diverse range of individuals, public and private organisations, national and international companies. I am a Board member for iSurv Planning the Institutions’ online planning service for its members and the general public and the RICS UK World Regional Board. I co-wrote a sustainable tourism guide which is now referred to as a source of good practice within the Governments’, “Good Practice Guidance on Planning for Tourism”. My book “The New Planning System – Questions & Answers” was published in May 2009. In 2008 I provided specialist information to Matthew Taylor MP concerning his report to the Prime Minister on the rural economy and affordable housing. Having been a keen rugby and hockey player for school, college and clubs in both the West Country and London, I now maintain a watching brief from the sideline. An accomplished orienteer and yachtsman, outside of the family, aviation is my passion and I have been an enthusiastic private pilot since 1981. I also enjoy reading, motor sport, space exploration, and jazz music. I was appointed Chairman of the Blackpool Lifeboat Station by the RNLI in 2006 having been active on the committee since 2000. I was appointed onto the crew as a deputy launching authority in 2009.
